The Gift

"What do you have that you did not receive?" 1 Corinthians 4:7

"He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?" Romans 8:32

Blomstrand is a Swedish name. I've been under the impression for some time that it comes from the two Swedish words for "flower" and "seashore" - turning into something like "flowers by the sea". That may be the case, but today I discovered another Swedish word that is very close to our name: blomstrande. It means "prosperous".

We are indeed prosperous. The funny thing is we haven't earned much of it. We've been given more good things than we can properly be grateful for. Much of that has come through you, our family and friends. You have provided for us in countless ways, big and small. Thank you.

The quotes above have come to mind numerous times in the past year. I don't spend nearly enough time thinking about God's goodness shown through the tons of blessings He pours on us. It is my hope that this blog will be an opportunity for us to thankfully reflect on whatever God brings our way. He is our Father and the giver of every perfect gift, all of which come through The Perfect Gift - His son, Jesus.
